About Kimberly

Before becoming an author, Kimberly enjoyed many years of a rewarding healthcare career, working with mothers and infants. She started her career as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse. Following completing her master’s degree in nursing, Kimberly spent several years working in various nursing education and leadership roles at a local hospital.

The idea and characters for the Carter and Eli’s Map Quest series started with Kimberly’s two young sons, who from a young age, frequently ask her to make up riddles, mysteries, and scavenger hunts to solve. Add to that their love for travel, and the books came alive.

Shortly after finishing her debut children’s novel Beyond the Icy Towers, Kimberly and her family embarked on a 17-month trip around the world, visiting 21 countries. The stories in the Carter and Eli’s Map Quest series are inspired by many of the places they visited and the experiences they had during this incredible journey.

When she is not writing or busy with her boys, Kimberly loves walking along the beach, losing herself in a good book, and sipping a steaming cup of tea.
